  • “the heretic”

I just sat down and read this article and was absolutely drawn in. Who knew psychedelic research could be so interesting?

    an excerpt:

“Terminated research from the ’60s was being replicated and even furthered in dozens of studies by big-name players, including Johns Hopkins, NYU, and UCLA. These studies, which almost exclusively explore the psychotherapeutic potential of psychedelics (as opposed to, say, how they might influence creativity), are getting results that would make a Big Pharma rep salivate. Of the hundreds of volunteers who’ve participated, a high majority have said that psychedelics, given in a safe, supportive setting, helped them to, depending on the study, accept imminent mortality, overcome drug and alcohol addiction, mitigate obsessive-compulsive urges, or heal post-traumatic stress disorder”

If you have a couple of minutes give it a read and let me know what you think.

again, here’s the link: The heretic

  • Holy pornography batman!

I was browsing through the TV guide on my cable box and realized they are playing something called “XXX Olympics” on NBC! Is it even legal to put pornography on network television?

I thought NBC was a family channel, what are they doing playing pornographic sports? What happened to the morality in this country! Kids could be watching that and wind up getting pregnant!

I propose a boycot immediately. I absolutely refuse to stand by and let this completely corrupt network invade the minds of our children with their filth and perversion. I am calling my state representative, I believe in free speech, but this is insane!!!

Who’s with me? Who will boycott the idiots who run NBC and DEMAND they stop airing pornographic material immediately???

RECOMMEND THIS POST IF YOU ARE JOINING THE ANTI-NBC-PORN REVOLUTION!

**man, I cannot wait for the comments on this post**

  • Let’s talk about Child Molesters.

Anytime someone say’s they are doing something “for the children” you’d better watch your back because your about to be manipulated. That is why I have a hard time believing that anything the NCAA did to Penn State, aside from the 60 million dollar penalty going to charity, is going to help the children involved in this scandal.

I find it especially hard to believe that the fans, players and even the school should be punished by a bunch of bleeding heart idiots who aren’t sure how to EVER place the blame on the correct people. All over the internet, on radio talk shows across the country and in the letters to the editor section, people are spouting off their insane and mildly retarded mantra. Their battle cry being “your taking the focus off of these kids! how dare you!”

Funny how these are the same people who where plunking down money to stop the “army of children in Uganda“, that a simple google search could have discredited.

I’m going to go ahead and say it though: it sucks to be a Penn State fan right now. It sucks to be one of the students at Penn State University, and it REALLY sucks to be one of the players on the Penn State football team who’s career is hanging in the balance over something you had nothing to do with. It sucks to be one of the former players who had your wins stripped away from you to serve the purpose of a group of headhunters who just want to look like they are doing something important.

GASP!! HOW DARE YOU IGNORE THE CHILDREN!

You care about the children?? Bullshit. You care about drama. If you care so much about these children, why aren’t you donating money to the charities to help them, can you even name one? Why aren’t you adopting them into a good home? What have you done to stand up and protect them aside from whine about completely unrelated crap online.

On to another thought, what is it about the current Penn State that warrants this kind of action? EVERY person involved in the abuse and later, the coverup is either dead, in jail, or heading to jail for the rest of their lives. But the University is being punished. This bears repeating: EVERY PERSON INVOLVED IS EITHER DEAD, IN JAIL OR GOING TO JAIL FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. But we are punishing the University. W.T.F???????

    Here’s an analogy that works;

A guy goes into a grocery store, his buddy is at the register and lets him leave the store without paying. They get caught, arrested and end up doing community service and paying some fines. The grocery store also gets a fine and is banned from selling groceries.

Really? would that be fair or even logical? Absolutely not.

“We are still Penn State” is going to be the motto for a group of young adults who want to spend their college years focused on learning, growing and having fun in school before they head out into the real world. Instead they are being punished for something they had nothing to do with. Something they weren’t even aware of. They care about the kids that were abused, but no one can focus on negative crap like that for the rest of their lives just to appease internet trolls who want them to wear sack cloth and ashes.

**I can’t wait for the comments about Kony to roll in… haha. winning.**

  • My Comment section is full of bridge-dwellers

I’ve never walked into someones house and started mouthing off at them. I can’t remember a time when I thought it was OK to call someone a name while on their property. It’s not right and it’s disrespectful, deserved or not.

Don’t get me wrong, I still have conversations and disagree with people, but I just don’t raise my voice or act like a fool. I use this little thing called “tact” and I don’t try to start a fight or a shouting match. I aim to have a good conversation or even a debate but I don’t care to argue. Its just rude to argue with someone at their house.

Now, I can’t really compare a blog to a house. I don’t live here and I don’t have to be here all the time. It’s more my “bully pulpit” so-to-speak. This is my space to write, argue, vent, discuss etc… And it’s especially cool because what I write is the main focus. The comments are there to discuss the topic at hand, but my writing is the centerpiece. You don’t get to come here without having my thoughts front-and-center on your screen. It’s pretty cool.

But there are a few people who try and take over the comment section by doing things like:

    1. Reading the title of a post and MAYBE the first few lines and commenting without reading the content.
-Do any of you have ANY idea how annoying that is? Read some of  the comments on THIS post where I’m being told I’m a Romney supporter.

    2. Writing a comment longer than the original post.
-If your comment is longer than the original post, you may have to re-evaluate what you wanted to say in the first place and decide if it’s something you should put up as a blog of your own. Take a look at the comment section HERE and you will see some INSANELY long comments.

    3. responding to EVERYONE who has commented.
-I can understand getting involved with the discussion, but this isn’t your time to start a fight with other people either. It’s OK for the OP to respond to everyone, borderline rude for someone else to start doing it. It’s not your place, not your blog.

    4. Putting words in your mouth.
-This was one thing Diva was great at, drawing conclusions about someone based on something they didn’t even say or imply and then forcing them to defend themselves against it.

    5. *By @waitingtoshrug Being convinced that “winning” means “keep going until the other person is completely frustrated and quits”.

All I’m trying to say is, when you visit my blog, or anyone else’s blog PLEASE be polite.

Feel free to add to this list and I’ll update the main blog.

  • Going to Jail for being sexually abused??

This girl is going to Jail because she disobeyed a judges orders and tweeted the names of her abusers after the judge let the guys off on a plea agreement.

The guys had raped her after she’d passed out drunk at a party.

I don’t know how to react to this

Should she follow the judges orders and not talk about the case, or was she right in outing the rapists?

  • Why I just can’t buy Obama’s rhetoric;

I’ve spent a lot of time discussing what Obama actually meant by “you didn’t build that” and I even posted a bunch of pics earlier this week. But a lot of people told me that I’m taking it out of context and I should watch/read the whole speech. So I did.

I’ve watched it a thousand times, tried to understand how it could have been mis-represented but I just don’t see it. The only thing I see him saying is “the government gave you what you have.

He say’s “we [government] created a lot of millionaires.” and “government research created the internet so these businesses could make a lot of money”

He blatantly discredits the hard work of everyone who’s build their own business and seems to mock them. It’s all the more infuriating because he seems to be imitating a preacher while people are literally shouting “amen” in the background.

Here’s the video, 100% left IN CONTEXT.

Don’t get me wrong, I get PART of what he is saying. He’s saying we are part of an amazing American system that is an incubator for business. I get it. The problem is the other things he’s saying. He’s discrediting hard working business owners across the country and mocking them.

Here’s a good video of someone who knows how to succeed, someone who knows how to give credit and take it. Notice the difference, the lack of mocking.

  • Better stock up on guns, Mayor Bloomburg wants the police to go on strike.

Mayor Bloomberg wants cops to go on strike across the country unless legislation is passed banning guns across the country. READ ARTICLE HERE

This is the same mayor that wants to ban large soda’s and jumbo popcorn.

What in the hell is wrong with this nations mayors???

Don’t worry though, he thinks the cops should still carry guns, you know, for their protection.

**edit**Interesting factoids from the above linked article:

    • In 2008, ten times more civilians regular people were killed by cops than cops were killed by perps.
    • In 2011, 72 cops were shot and killed in the entire U.S.; in L.A. County alone, cops shot and killed 54 suspects the same year–22 percent of those people were unarmed.
    • As Scott Reeder reported at Reason this morning, “Farmers, ranchers, commercial fishermen, loggers, garbage collectors, truck drivers, construction workers, pilots, steel workers, roofers, and others are far more likely to face death on the jobs than police or firefighters, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.”
    • And as Choire Sicha wrote earlier this year, “2008 was the ten-year low for police officers being killed, and 2012 is, so far, year-to-date, down 49% from last year.”

  • Homophobic or Hypocritical?

The Mayor of Boston isn’t happy with the fact that the owners of Chick-fil-A do not approve of gay marriage. He has vowed to block them from entering his city. LINK

His statement: “You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against the population. We’re an open city, we’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion. That’s the Freedom Trail. That’s where it all started right here. And we’re not going to have a company, Chick-fil-A or whatever the hell the name is, on our Freedom Trail.”

Translation: You don’t see things the way I’d like you to see them, so your not allowed to sell shit in my city

Is that not the most intolerant statement you’ve ever heard?

He’s supporting freedom by limiting freedom. Promoting “inclusion” by blocking those who disagree.

Am I the crazy one here? Seriously! Am I the only one that see’s the ass-backwardness of this entire idiotic debacle? Since when is it OK for the government to try and force businesses out because of their point of view?

Isn’t that what this whole progressive movement has been trying to get rid of? People who are intolerant of another persons beliefs or ways of life??

*disclaimer, I’m not a “homophobe” I just think that it doesn’t matter at all what you believe, you can’t put other people out because of their beliefs. If you are gay, you should be protesting this idiocy yourself. Equality and freedom is something you have fought for and celebrate and this idiot mayor is trampling all over it.

  • Penn State football is over.

A 60 million dollar fine, yeah, I can understand that, your punishing the University.

    here’s the LINK

But when you take away all of the teams wins, destroy the entire football program by taking them out of bowl games and post-season play and crush their scholarship program your punishing the students and the fans.

And why would they take away their victories for over ten years???????

Throw the bastards involved in jail, destroy them, don’t punish Pennsylvania, the fans, the students and the players.

In my opinion the NCAA has vastly overstepped their bounds.

I can understand if you think I’m wrong, not a big deal, it’s my opinion and it happens all the time. Do you think they did the right thing or should they have done something else?
