Penn State football is over.
A 60 million dollar fine, yeah, I can understand that, your punishing the University.
here’s the LINK
But when you take away all of the teams wins, destroy the entire football program by taking them out of bowl games and post-season play and crush their scholarship program your punishing the students and the fans.
And why would they take away their victories for over ten years???????
Throw the bastards involved in jail, destroy them, don’t punish Pennsylvania, the fans, the students and the players.
In my opinion the NCAA has vastly overstepped their bounds.
I can understand if you think I’m wrong, not a big deal, it’s my opinion and it happens all the time. Do you think they did the right thing or should they have done something else?

I agree with the fine and the reduction in scholarships. I think athletic scholarships are given too liberally. I get the no bowl games thing, I do. But I don’t understand the logic behind the removal of all wins preceeding this event.
@Thatslifekid - I just updated the post to reflect that as well, I can’t believe they are doing a lot of this. It’s destroying Penn State football.
Just wait until the Department of Education steps in with their punishment.
I’m usually pretty ruthless when it comes to college athletics, but even I am uncomfortable with parts of the punishment. I don’t understand taking away the wins, either.
It’s common practice to limit scholarships and ban bowls for a season. I don’t go along with more than a season of bowl bans as punishment. A fine. yes. And some scholarshipsAnd I don’t think it will hurt the fans to take away the wins. After all, the wins were made during misbehavior of coaches of the time. just my two cents.
I never understood the punishments handed out by the NCAA in any scandal. They always seem to punish everyone EXCEPT the perpetrators. USC. Those involved in their scandal were gone when the punishment was doled out, thus really the punishment did not punish those who were involved. Ohio State. Same thing, only a few players were still on the roster. The main perpetrators had left.
Same thing with Penn State.
